Most Livable State - Due to the fact that it is the safest state and has the second lowest tax burden per person of any state, New Hampshire was once again deemed ‘Most Livable’ state for 2008.

Tax Burden by State - This is a chart which compares New Hampshire’s property tax burden to that of other states. It is 4th highest, however, it comes out 2nd lowest overall (Alaska is first!) due to the fact that there is no sales or income tax.

Fifteen Years of Folly - This is a study done by the Yankee Institute of Connecticut which shows that adding income and sales taxes do not lower property taxes.
